Gear Works is an open-source website created by 4 highschoolers who absolutly love computer programming. They are keen on enhancing the creativity and learning experience of middle and high school students in computer science. Founded by Evan Hill, our platform complements traditional teaching methods and aims to inspire the next generation of programmers.
The journey of Gear Works began when Evan Hill was in 7th grade. Faced with a lack of creativity-driven educational tools, Evan and his team transformed a simple idea into a comprehensive platform designed to foster independent learning and creativity.
Meet our team:
Inspired by MIT's Scratch, Gear Works offers a creativity-driven editor, a customizable library, comprehensive tutorials, and unique extensions created by both users and teachers. Our platform complements existing resources, supporting various learning styles and promoting hands-on engagement with coding. Other resources recomended by our team include Khan Acadamy, CodeHS, and Code.org.
We have exciting updates in the pipeline, including the introduction of new official extensions and user accounts. Additionally, we plan to host monthly game jams to encourage creativity and build a vibrant community.

A README is a file that is included with most software. Because Gear Works is an open-source project, you can also access the README with our source-code linked at the bottom of the page.
